When planning for college and university growth, it may be helpful to compare your institution with other colleges and universities of a similar size. A survey of building trends among these institutions may provide insight and direction for growth plans. The goal of this survey is to define some common indicators that apply to a college and university campus and in particular, to the peer group that makes up the ABACC constituency
The ABACC Data Warehouse is a good tool for colleges and universities to use in growth planning - particularly in the master planning process. Institutions can use the collected data in the Data Warehouse to compare their metrics with peers for purposes of validation or making improvements. The Data Warehouse allows an institution to normalize the data based on student FTE or other measurements. The results should aid college and university administrators in their annual strategy sessions - evaluating their campus and formulating plans for growth. Additionally, building square footage is analyzed and broken down into five separate categories. This information is helpful in planning for facility growth for academic, residential, athletic, student services and other space needs.
