This webinar will explore the legal responsibilities Title IV post-secondary institutions have to ensure the privacy and security of the records and data it maintains for its employees, students and parents. We will cover the top cybersecurity risks plaguing the higher education industry, as well as mitigation tactics to minimize those threats. We will define what constitutes a data breach and how to properly report and recover from such an event. Lastly, we will review how to create an optimal Information security program and provide youwith an example template to utilize as a starting point when building such a policy.

  • Identify the legal regulations governing post-secondary institutions and the data they secure, as well as understanding the need to protect personally identifiable information of both their students and employees.
  • Identify the cyber security risks facing the Higher Education industry and establish an effective cyber security hygiene routine to mitigate those risks.
  • Determine how to detect, respond and recover from a data breach.
  • Create an optimal Cyber Security Information Security Program that both reduce cyber security risks and meets the new audit requirements.
