Sophisticated financial strategy requires much more than accurate journal entries and financial reports. A sophisticated financial strategist understands how different types of expenses and different sources of funds affect the bottom line and, ultimately, the mission of the institution. Solid forecasting, determining accurate predictability, cost correlation analysis and leveraging technology all support sophisticated financial management. This workshop will help you move towards a more sophisticated view of forecasting, budgeting and accounting by highlighting how cost behaviors and predictability affect your budgeting, forecasting and ultimately control.

Learning Objectives (attendees will be able to):

  • Describe the differences, perspectives and roles between management accounting and financial accounting;
  • Describe the various types of expenses and how they affect predictability and, ultimately, the bottom line;
  • Integrate cost correlation analysis into your budgeting processes;
  • Determine the cost behavior impact on budgeting; and
  • Determine how best to leverage technology to integrate learned budgeting techniques into operations.
