The Department of Education has been hinting at requiring audit procedures around compliance with the Safeguards Rule of the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA) since the Federal Student Aid office publicized its Protecting Student Information letter in July 2015. Although no formalized mandate has materialized since then, it now appears that fiscal year 2019 may be the first year when expanded audit testing and reporting on GLBA compliance will be in effect. Unfortunately, many higher education institutions are woefully unprepared for a GLBA compliance audit.

Learning Objectives: Attendees will be able to:

  • Interpret the drivers behind compliance with the GLBA Safeguards rule
  • Comply with GLBA Safeguard rules
